Ballard Bell in pencil and pixels

Pencil and watercolor on Stillman and Birn Zeta Series pocket sketchbook.

This bell tower is a landmark in Ballard, a Seattle neighborhood that was its own independent city back in the early 1900s. The bell was salvaged from the town’s city hall building way back when it was demolished.

The timing to share these drawings made in old and new media couldn’t be any better. Today is Norway Day, and many Ballard residents will be parading by the bell tower as they ccelebrate the neighborhood’s Nordic roots.
